Our Shamanic Team consists of a family team of four – the mother, father and two sons of the Galindo family. These shamans are true maestros of the medicine and are dedicated to sharing their expertise and knowledge with you. In fact, they are never happier than when doing so! In our years of working with many, many shamans, the excellence of this family’s medicine work has yet to be surpassed and is the cornerstone of all our work. The head of the team is the eldest son, Maestro Gumercindo Galindo, and his father, Maestro Roldan Galindo, is his right hand man.

Maestro Gumercindo Galindo

Maestro Gumercindo studied under Don Julio Llerena Pinedo for two years prior to his passing. Then he studied under Maestro Don Alberto Torres and his father Maestro Don Roldan Galindo. Maestro Gumercindo has been working with the medicine for over ten years. His experience includes healing local Peruvians and westerners who come to Jenaro Hererra.

Gumercindo is known for his beautiful icarros, his ¨warrior of the light¨ energy, a friendly outgoing demeanor, and for constantly having a smile on his face.

Maestro Don Roldan Galindo

Maestro Don Roldan is Gumercindo´s father. Don Roldan studied directly with Don Julio and is a close compadre of Maestro Don Alberto Torres. Don Roldan has been working with the medicine for over 32 years. He has a very soft, kind, and solid demeanor. In ceremony, Don Roldan is known for his solidity and consistency. He is the glue and foundation in ceremony.

Gertrudes Galindo Shapiama

Gertrudes is Maestro Don Roldan´s wife and Maestro Gumercindo´s mother. While Gertrudes does not hold the title of Maestra, she brings a significant amount of experience to La Familia Medicina as she has been working with the medicine and her husband Don Roldan for over 32 years. She brings a wonderful grandmother energy and an amazing sense of humor.

Maestro Don Julio Llerena Pinedo

Don Julio started the lineage/ created the mesa that Ayahuasca Satsangha is a part of today. Don Julio was unique in that he studied to become a palero (master of tree medicines) on his own, that is without a maestro to guide him. Don Julio has been the subject of many books, most recently ¨Ayahuasca in My Blood¨ by Peter Gorman. Don Julio passed away at 89 years of age in 2007.
