Satsang – In the company of the highest Truth
Sangha – A Spiritual community or family that possesses some high degree of realisation
Ayahuasca Satsangha is the first major ayahuasca retreat centre to move to a donation-based model. We charge a deposit to cover our basic costs and to ensure a guest’s commitment to a retreat, and we ask guests to make a donation at the end of their retreat to help us develop, improve and admit more guests. We believe that the sacred Ayahuasca medicine should be available to all, regardless of socio-economic background or income bracket and are opposed to the turning of the sacred work into for-profit business.
For first-time visitors, it is difficult to determine in advance the value of an ayahuasca retreat, especially one that offers a holistic health package such as ours, so Ayahuasca Satsangha is glad to be able to use a donation model to remove any concerns about paying up front for an unknown service.
We are keen to embody a working practice of transparency and fairness, in which all our staff receives a reasonable living wage, our local community projects are funded successfully, and our patrons are rewarded with a life-changing experience.
Furthermore, we believe that the current economic system is on the verge of collapse and that we will eventually be moving to a gift-based economy focused on serving each other’s needs. We wish to lead by example and be amongst the forerunners in this economic transition.
Our philosophy is that ayahuasca is a gift from the divine that is for everyone. Truth and the path of consciousness development are free, and it is undignified to put a price on them.
Ayahuasca Satsangha requires a deposit, which covers (A PORTION OF) the operating costs of running our retreats, and which ensures continued funding for the following projects that we run to support the local community:
- Ka’Way Monti sustainable community development (see more here)
- Rural education development – hiring of Waldorf teachers, summer schools, etc
- Irrigation projects, canal repairs and management, etc.
- Bridges, school toilet blocks and other community infrastrutures
- Financial support for medical treatments
- Office equipment for local community authorities
- Permaculture instruction
- Agricultural development
The deposit does not pay for ayahuasca ceremonies or the ayahuasca itself, which we provide at no charge, and allows full participation in our retreats.
This is an open profit-share initiative with a pay-it-forward perspective. It is up to our guests to choose the extent to which they contribute towards the success of this model.
